Women’s League Cricket
Within Gloucestershire we currently have three leagues for women’s teams to enter depending on their level of experience and seriousness of competition they require.
The leagues are administered by the Women & Girls Development Group who collate entries, arrange fixtures at a fixtures evening and help source grounds.
All league tables, fixtures and results can be seen by viewing the Gloucestershire Women’s Play-Cricket site.
Women’s 35 Over League
This is the longest format of league cricket currently offered and is generally entered by more experienced teams. Aspirationally we would hope all clubs with county and junior county players would work towards playing this format to support player development.
Women’s 20 Over Competitive League
This is a 20 over league in which generally more experienced and established teams enter. This league is in place for women’s clubs looking for competitive games, while recognising the popularity of the 20 over format.
Women’s 20 Over Development League
This is a 20 over league in which new women’s teams or social teams often enter. This league is played in ‘pairs cricket’ format which allows every player the opportunity to be involved in the game and develop basic skills.
Clubs that are interested in entering any of the above leagues should contact Lisa Pagett
Cotswold Women’s League
In 2013, a women’s cricket league was set up in conjunction with the Cotswold District Cricket Association to provide local cricket for new women’s teams emerging in the area. While this is not run directly by the GCB, it is fully supported and endorsed and we hope over time as women’s cricket continues to grow, that women’s district-based leagues can be developed around the county. If clubs are interested and would like more information then please contact Louise Findlay Wilson.
