First Aid
The GCB engages Mark Bonson to deliver this course, which is entertaining and relevant to all aspects of incidents and accidents that can occur at cricket matches and practice or, indeed, could occur at a cricket club.
Safeguarding and Protecting Children
This course is registered with Sports Coach UK and is a nationally accredited course and certification is achieved through this national organisation. The GCB workshops are, in the main, delivered by Richard Skyrme, a nationally accredited tutor, well known in the north of the county through his links with cricket in Herefordshire.
All practical and legal aspects of safeguarding and protecting children are covered and group discussions deal with delicate subjects where attendees are likely to have widely differing opinions.
The GCB organises a First Aid course and a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop to coincide with each of its Level 1 Coach Education courses. The courses are held midweek, 6-9pm, usually at the same venue as the associated Coach Education course If you are about to undertake one of these courses you should aim to attend the associated course. Certification cannot be obtained until both workshops have been attended and CRB clearance has been obtained.
Additional Courses
Safe Hands for Club Welfare Officers
This workshop is specifically for Club Welfare Officers and is held midweek, 6pm – 9pm. The GCB organises for 2 courses to be delivered per year, one in the north and one in the south of the county. They are usually held at cricket clubs.
The GCB engages Dr Malcolm Hanson to deliver the courses, which, once again, deal with all legal and practical aspects of being a Club Welfare Officer and clearly underlines the importance of this role.

Disabled people, ethnic minorities, women and girls experience discrimination on a regular basis. Everyone involved in sport has a responsibility to improve this situation - as a coach, you have an important role to play. Full guidance on best practice is given in this book.
