Disability Cricket

Cricket development in Gloucestershire caters for all people and the Board now has a thriving disability programme that offers Special Schools cricket coaching every week from September to April.
Not only do the GCB offer coaching to schools but it is now in the process of setting up Disability Cricket Clubs in both the North and South of the County. Frenchay Cricket Club has already started this work and through links with South Gloucestershire Council and support from the Brandon Trust an Adult Disability Cricket Club runs every Wednesday from April to August.
The aim is to now work with as many partners as possible to make both this club, and initially one in the North, thriving clubs for the Disabled Cricketer.

All of the coaching leads up to festivals that offer the participants a chance of competition and a really fun day.
The GCB deliver and offer 2 forms of disability Cricket- Non-stop or Kwik Cricket and Table Cricket. This allows a greater chance of inclusion and makes the game more accessible to people that historically wouldn’t have had the chance to play cricket.
All of the GCB’s disability work is sponsored by John Lewis department store in Cribbs Causeway.
In 2009/10 the GCB offered cricket coaching to 14 special schools. With the growing workforce there is a plan to broaden the schools and create a county structure so every year we have a winner.
