Disability Cricket Continues to Grow!
Disability cricket in the county continues to grow with the introduction of new opportunities for cricketers with an impairment.
Thanks to sponsorship from John Lewis Cribbs Causeway, support from two clubs within the county and the hard work of the Disability Cricket Development Officer - Chris Munden - there are now more oppportunities than ever for disabled cricketers to participate and compete. Following on from the development of disability cricket within schools and coaching workshops to develop coaches abilities in delivering to disabled athletes the GCB is now pleased to announce new sections for Visually Impaired Cricketers and those with a Learning Disability. The sessions will be delivered by Cirencester Cricket Club & Frenchay Cricket Club. Both clubs have been heavily involved in the set up of the new sections within their club are equally as excited as the Board about the new opportunities they are able to offer.
The details of the new sessions are:
CIRENCESTER CRICKET CLUB - Sessions held at Deer Park School, Stroud Road, Circencester, GL7 1XB
LD Sessions: Sundays 11am - 12.30pm
Dates January 15th & 29th, February 12th & 19th, March 4th & 18th, 1st & 8th & 22nd April, 6th May
Aimed at Under 21 cricketers with a 'statement'
VI Sessions: Sundays 4pm - 6pm
Dates: 15th & 29th January, 12th & 19th February, 4th & 8th March, 1st & 8th April
Aimed at blind cricketers or those with a visual impairment
FRENCHAY CRICKET CLUB
LD Sessions: Sundays 11am - 12pm
Filton College WISE Campus, Filton Avenue, Bristol, BS34 7AT
Dates: Every sunday starting 20th November 2011
Aimed at U21 cricketers with a 'statement'
VI Sessions: Saturdays 10am - 12pm
Bedminster Down School, Donald Road, Bristol, Avon, BS13 7DQ
Aimed at blind cricketers or those with a visual impairment

The plan is for both clubs to have a team within each catergory and play matches against each other. Following on from this there will be a talent ID process where the best players will be invited to represent Gloucestershire in the National LD & VI County Championships.
