EDUCATIONAL CRICKET COURSES

To Improve the Quality of Groundsmanship, courses are run through the year by The Institute of Groundsmen; they are available to book direct through the IOG or via the Gloucestershire Cricket Board office.

In Gloucestershire the Groundsmans Association offers the IOG Foundation Course which runs in the spring and the autumn.

1. FOUNDATION, PART A, SPRING PREPARATION & SUMMER MAINTENANCE – ONE DAY
   • Definition of surface
   • Assessment of surface
   • Early spring maintenance
   • Mowing
   • Scarifying and brushing
   • Aeration
   • Irrigation
   • Rolling
   • Fertiliser Application
   • Preparing the square
   • Preparation of the match pitch
   • Pitch repair and renovation
   • Maintenance of the outfield
   • Maintenance of the non-turf pitches
     
     
2. FOUNDATION, PART B, AUTUMN RENOVATION AND WINTER MAINTENANCE – ONE DAY
   • Definition of surface
   • Assessment of surface
   • Safe Working practices
   • Scarification
   • Aeration
   • Repairs and renovation
   • Over seeding
   • Top dressing
   • Fertiliser application
