ECB Report Signals A Successful Year for the GCB
The GCB's end of year report from the English & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) this year brought with it the news of unprecedented success and achievement that all within Gloucestershire can be proud of.
Based around key performance indicators such as Improvement Planning & Club Development and quantitative targets in areas such as participation and coaches the annual report is seen as the real judge of success for Boards up and down the country. It is also how ECB payments are decided with Boards needing to achieve in all areas to ensure full funding for their county.
This year's report also saw growth across the board for cricket within Gloucestershire. In the twelve months the county saw an increase in participation by over 1700 players, an extra 59 coaches working within the county and 132 volunteers providing vital support to their local cricket clubs.
ECB Regional Manager Ed Leverton stated that,
"I [on behalf of the ECB] greatly appreciate the huge amount of dedicated work that has gone into this success by both the volunteer and the professional staff."
He also commented that it had been an energetic year for the Board and they could be extremely proud of successfully completing an ambitious Improvement Action Plan for year.
Trevor Crouch Chairman of the GCB wished to echo these comments and stated that,
"These are achievements which all at the GCB can be proud. It has an incredible turnaround in the last 3 years and we are pleased that this has been recognised nationally by the ECB. The success owes a lot to Steve Silk our Cricket Development Manager for his leadership and commitment as well as the hard work and expertise of the GCB Development Officers who have worked tirelessly to ensure sustained success across the county in all areas. It would have not been achievable however without the dedication and passion of the clubs, volunteers and wider workforce within the county and we are extremely grateful for their support."
Never one to sit back the GCB are now already planning for future success and are in the process of developing their Strategic Plan for 2012 – 2015 following consultation and feedback from key partners and clubs within the county.
