ASDA Kwik Cricket
Kwik Cricket is a simple game for all boys and girls from five years of age upwards
It is currently played in 8,000 primary schools and over 4,500 of the 6,000 ECB affiliated clubs. It’s designed to provide children with an introduction to cricket and can be played either indoors or outdoors. In Gloucestershire we are fully committed to the Asda Kwik Cricket programme. Details of the Festival can be found below.
Much of the Primary School work, whether delivered through Chance to shine (link to C2s page) or via the GCB coaches, has these end festivals in mind as all coaching delivery is only offered to schools who will commit to the competition element of the pathway.
Primary School Competition
Annually the GCB meets with the 2 x Competition Manager Teams of Gloucestershire (Active Gloucestershire and WESPORT) to organise and arrange the best times for the SSP rounds and the County Round of the National ASDA Kwik Cricket Tournament.
In 2011 the dates will be:
- SSP rounds – Weeks of Monday 23rd May and 6th June
- County Final – Week of 13th June
- Regional Finals – Week of 27th June
In 2010 the County saw an improvement in numbers across both the Girls and the open competition, in particular in the North of the County – stats can be seen below which shows the number of schools and also in brackets the number of teams
