The Gloucestershire county boys programme is made up of teams from Under 10 to Under 17s.
Each age group has 12 weeks indoor coaching during the winter before a full programme of summer fixtures.
Both the under 10s, 11s and 12s play friendly matches against other counties. This stage is used to develop our youngest performers before entering ECB competition and the GCB try to give these squads as many fixtures as possible.
The under 13s, 14s and 15s play in ECB competitions against other counties from the south and west.
The younger age groups (under 10 to under 14) also competed at a residential competition. The under 10s went to the Malvern Festival while the under 11s, 12, 13s and 14s attended festivals at King’s College Taunton.
The under 17s play in two different competitions, a regional one-day county cup competition and a three-day league. There is also an under 17s development squad which plays in a number of friendly games to prepare them for the full under 17 side.
In recent years a number of players have gone on to achieve regional recognition, appearing for the south west at the prestigious Bunbury Festival. Half of the current Gloucestershire Academy is made up of former Gloucestershire age group players including Patrick Grieshaber and James Bracey who played for the first team in 2016.
