Gloucestershire Women

Gloucestershire County Women are the premier women’s team in the county.

We compete in both the ECB Women’s 50 over County Cup and T20 competitions.

2017 saw the team win promotion from Division 3 Group A of the T20 tournament to Division 2. We went through the competition unbeaten, winning 6 out 6 completed games. In the 50 over county cup, the team progressed through to a promotion play-off against Essex at the end of August. Unfortunately, we went down by 6 wickets and will remain in Division 3 for the 2018 season.

Abby Evans was our player of the year and batsman of the year after scoring 439 runs at an average of 62 with a highest score of 139 and two other half centuries including 86no from 67 balls in a T20 game against Devon.

Danielle Gibson was our bowler of the year taking 18 wickets with a county best of 5 – 17 against Cornwall.

In addition, Danielle was part of the Western Storm squad that won the Kia Super League in 2018 as well as being a current part of the England Women’s Academy.

Over the past few seasons, the team has benefited from the county’s investment in girls cricket and we are now seeing the emergence of several very talented young players, some of whom have attracted national and regional attention. We have an exciting blend of young and experienced players who are all showing a strong desire to learn and develop their all-round games. These certainly are exciting times for the county women’s team and we’re hoping that this young squad will realise their undoubted potential in the seasons to come.
