2016 Season

2016 was a successful season for the Gloucestershire Women who won nine out of their 10 matches in all competitions.

The side won their T20 league (ECB Division 4 South & West) and finished third in the 50 over County Championship.

The season saw a number of firsts for the side including their first sponsor – Montpelier Health Centre – and their first overseas player – Australian Bhavi Devchand.

The young squad was led by captain Charlie Walker and featured a number of teenagers who have graduated from the county age groups.

These included 15-year-old Danielle Gibson, Alice Hill (16) and 14-year-old wicketkeeper Natasha Wraith who made her debut during the 2016 season.

Notable individual achievements in 2016 included Abby Evans scoring 302 runs at 60.40 – the second best average in the county women’s game – including 102 v Dorset.

With the ball, Gibson took 18 wickets at 10.33, Charlie Phillips snared 17 victims at 8.41 and Devchand took 15 wickets at 8.13.

The side were also invited to the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club end of season presentation for the first time where their award winners were unveiled.

Player of the Year went to Danielle Gibson, Charlie Phillips was named Bowler of the Year and Abby Evans took home the Batter of the Year award.
