FOUR sets of ‘dads and lads’ teamed up to complete a comfortable six-wicket win for Rockhampton 4ths.
Captain Ed Twemlow took to the field with sons Tom and Jimmy, along with Steve Pikett and son George, Chris Beddoes and son Dan plus John Welsh and son Mackenzie, for a Stroud League Division Two trip to local rivals Stone 2nds.
The Rockhampton side also featured Sam Sturt who played against his father Joe and younger brother Toby as they helped made up the numbers for Stone who were short!
Stone were bowled out for 102 before Rockhampton went on to complete a comfortable win in their first competitive outing of the season.
Ed said: “The idea behind our 4ths is to help bring our juniors through and it’s a great opportunity for parents to play with their lads.
“Most of the dads are at the end of their cricketing careers, and if it wasn’t for their sons then they probably would not be playing.
“At the same time, it’s very encouraging for these young lads to be playing with their dads.”
Dan Beddoes captured 4-18 from eight for Rockhampton while opener John Vercoe finished unbeaten on 57 for the visitors.
