TREMENDOUS efforts are being made to ensure that the Bristol Youth League finals day proceeds as scheduled on Monday (August 31) at Frenchay and Winterbourne despite what could kindly be described as unhelpful weather.

Heavy rain over the last few days meant both under-17 semi-finals had to be postponed. But all clubs have risen to the challenge with the result that Thornbury will now host Bristol on Sunday (August 30) while Golden Hill will entertain Winterbourne on Monday morning, with the winners dashing to Frenchay for the final at 2.30pm!

A hectic day of non-stop action is planned on four pitches at Frenchay and Winterbourne while the weather forecast is, whisper it, currently dry! Here’s the full schedule of games:

Frenchay – 10am, U11 semi-final: Bradley Stoke v Golden Hill Yellow; 10.30am, U11 semi-final: Bedminster Lions v Bristol. 2pm, U11 final. 2.30pm, U17 Raise the Bat final: Thornbury or Bristol v Winterbourne or Golden Hill.

Winterbourne – 10am, U13 semi-final: Winterbourne v Bristol (St Michael’s); U15 semi-final: Bradley Stoke v Golden Hill Green (Recreation Ground). 1pm, U13 semi-final: Bradley Stoke v Golden Hill Yellow (St Michael’s); Under-15 semi-final: Thornbury v Bedminster (Recreation Ground). 4pm, U13 Raise the Bat final (St Michael’s); U15 Raise The Bat final (Recreation Ground).
