Courses, Workshops & Events
In addition to IOG (Institute of Groundsman) courses, the GGA also hosts a number of workshops and events to support the development of the county’s groundsmen.
The GGA is running two FREE workshops in March to help groundsmen prepare for the 2018 season. The “Spring Preparation of Your Square for the Season” events will take on March 4 at the Brightside Ground, Bristol and on March 18 at Cheltenham College. Both days will run from 9.30am-1pm.
The Bristol workshop will be led by Gloucestershire Cricket head groundsman Sean Williams while Christian Brain, head groundsman at Cheltenham College will lead the other event.
Over the three and a half hours the topics covered will include mowing, rolling, setting up the square, fertilisation and worms.

One of the biggest events of recent years took place in February 2017 when 270 groundsmen attended a special seminar at the Brightside Ground, Bristol organised by the GGA in partnership with Dennis and SISIS machinery. The day included seminars from a wide-range of experts including Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson, ECB pitch consultant Chris Wood and Somerset groundsman Simon Lee – one of five county head groundsmen present at the event.
Dennis and SISIS were joined at the Brightside Ground by key partners within the groundscare industry including Boughton Loam, CricketWorld.com, Limagrain, Poweroll, Stuart Canvas and local dealer Lister Wilder.
