UNDERDOGS Bishopston retained the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Cup with a comfortable five-wicket victory away to Cheltenham.
The home side, who lost the toss, struggled to reach 93 all out with opener Ben Pegler and Udit Talati both hitting 17 although extras top scored on 30.
Left-arm spinner Cyrus Shafi was once again the pick of the Bish attack with a return of 4-15 from seven while there were also two wickets for paceman Ryan Adams.
In reply, Bish – through to the final for a third year in a row – lost an early wicket but experienced campaigner Gary Booth (29) then took centre stage while Jamie Tapper was unbeaten on 24 for the visitors who eased to the silverware in the 26th over.
For Cheltenham, who finished a tremendous fourth in their first season in Premier One of the West of England Premier League, Liam Walker captured 2-25 from six and Talati finished with 2-28 from eight.
Bish, meanwhile, were able to reflect on another highly successful season after also finishing fourth in WEPL Premier Two Bristol/Somerset for the second summer in a row.
