Gloucestershire’s Matt Brewer and Joe Dryell have been selected to represent the South West Under 15 team at this year’s Bunbury Festival.
The pair are part of a 14-man squad that also includes Glos Academy batsmen Ben Charlesworth.
Their selection has been welcomed by Gloucestershire Cricket Board head of performance Tim Hancock.
He said: “It is great news for Joe and Matty and great news for our age group programme as a whole.
“Both lads deserve their call-up and I wish them the best of luck at the festival.
“Our under 15 squad is a high potential group and while it is great to have two lads selected I think we had three or four who must have been quite close.”
Wicketkeeper Brewer plays for Bristol CC and attends Bristol Grammar School. He only took up the gloves two years ago but has excelled in his new role.
Tim said: “Matt brings leadership, energy and competitiveness to a team which is what you want from your ‘keeper. He has worked hard at his game and turns up for every training session like it is his first.”
Downend batsman Dryell – who goes to Colston’s School only forced his way into the county set-up last year after impressing in district cricket.
Tim said: “Joe is a very good batsman technically who hits nice and straight. He is a cool character, very level-headed and has made steady improvements to his game over the last few years.”
The Glos pair will be involved in warm-up games against Wales Under 17, London and East Under 15 a Somerset Development XI in the lead up to the Bunbury Festival.
