Clubs can get up to £4k to buy new covers through the 2019 England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Small Grants Scheme.
The scheme is open for applications immediately and closes on May 31.
It is open to all Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) affiliated clubs with the exception of clubs received an ECB Small Grant for covers in 2018.
This year’s scheme has been aligned with the ECB’s Get the Game On campaign to improve club sustainability by getting more matches played. As a result the grants will only be allocated for the following:
- New mobile covers
- Flat sheet covers
- Bowlers run-up and / or side sheet covers
- Replacement cover tops
- Water removal equipment (only when combined with the purchase of covers)
Clubs can apply for £1, 000 to £4, 000 and must contribute a minimum 10% of the overall cost themselves. For full guidelines and an application form please see below:
In the last two seasons 59 Gloucestershire clubs have benefited from ECB Small Grants including a record 30 last year.
GCB chief executive Steve Silk said: “Ensuring matches aren’t lost to the weather is crucial in helping ensure our clubs are sustainable so it is great to see covers being prioritised by this year’s ECB Small Grants Scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity for our clubs to improve their facilities and I hope that as many as possible take the opportunity to apply.”
