Clubs in Voneus Village Cup action on Sunday

CLUBS bid to take another step on the road to Lord’s when action in the Voneus Village Cup resumes on Sunday.

Frocester, beaten finalists at the home of cricket in 1993 and national quarter-finalists two summers ago, entertain Corse & Staunton in the last eight of the Gloucestershire group.

Rockhampton, who also reached a Lord’s final in 2013, host Gotherington while Marshfield welcome Painswick and Kingsholm have received a bye after Apperley withdrew.
Dumbleton, who also qualified for the last eight nationally in 2020, are away to Astwood Bank in Group 13, while Langford travel to Cumnor in Group 19.
Bristol side Stapleton, meanwhile, entertain Congresbury in Group 27. All Voneus Village Cup matches are due to start at 1pm.
This famous competition was launched in 1972 and each year attracts around 300 village sides from across the British Isles who battle it out for the chance to play in the final at Lord’s.
