Two Easton Tigers batsmen secured places on this week’s Batting Honours Board after smashing spectacular maiden centuries in a record score for their team.
Shahwaiz Hassan (pictured left) blasted 174, including nine fours and 20 sixes, while team-mate Muhaamad Qaisar’s 124 was made up of two fours, 19 sixes … and two singles!
Their innings, plus Khuram Arif’s 68 and an unbeaten 68 from Adnan Chema, helped propel the Tigers to a grand total of 494-9 off 40 overs against Old England in Division One of the North Somerset League, easily beating the previous highest total of 429-8 which was set by Temple Cloud against Chilcompton back in 2015.
Tigers, who lost the toss, were 6-2 at one stage before recovering in memorable style in a home game staged at Hallen.
Shahwaiz and Muhaamad, who were fasting as they observed Ramadan, did not give a chance before being dismissed.
Captain Mahmood Ahmed said: “It was like watching Jos Buttler … the ball was disappearing everywhere but fortunately we did not lose one despite all the sixes!”
The Tigers went on to complete a 301-run win victory to make it three from three at the top of the table.
