Gloucestershire’s High School For Girls (HSFG) have become Chance to Compete Under 15 Regional champions.
The girls secured the title after defeating the best schools from the south west and Wales at a finals day at Taunton School.
The team received their trophy from Western Storm stars Fran Wilson, Rachel Priest, Sophie Luff and Amara Carr after going through the day with a 100% record.
HSFG, from Gloucester, qualified for the finals after winning the Gloucestershire competition from Winterbourne Academy who went on to finish fifth in the regional event.
It was the second trip to Taunton in two days for some of the HSFG girls who also represented their school in the Under 13 finals. The Under 13 team – who were also Gloucestershire champions – finished fourth in the regional competition, with county runners-up Newent Community School coming sixth.

The Chance to Shine competition was played with a soft ball using an 8-a-side format with matches consisting of 7 overs per team.
Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) women and girls development officer Lisa Pagett said:
[blockquote]“Our congratulations go to all the Gloucestershire teams who reached the regional finals day and particularly to the HSFG U15s on becoming south west champions.
“They have only recently started to enter competitions within the county so to have achieved so much success so soon is a fantastic achievement.”[/blockquote]
Every player who took part in the regional finals days received a goody bag containing Western Storm merchandise and a ticket to watch the reigning Kia Super League champions in action against the Yorkshire Diamonds in the 2018 season opener at Somerset CC’s Coopers Associates County Ground in Taunton on July 22.
