HATHERLEY & Reddings continued their season to remember by winning the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League’s inaugural T20 Blast.
Victories over Chipping Sodbury and then Corse & Staunton ensured the Cheltenham-based club romped to success in the round-robin finals day played on home territory, and made it a silverware double after also clinching promotion as champion from the WEPL’s Gloucestershire division.
Hatherley opened a hectic day of action with a 34-run defeat of Chipping Sodbury, opener Joel Price retiring on 50 in his side’s imposing total of 162-7 – Mason Poole capturing 4-28 – before Andy Tiplady responded with 4-17 as Sodbury were bowled out for 128.
Sodbury then suffered a 37-run reverse against Corse whose challenge of 147-6 featured an unbeaten 51 from Jack Hutchings who followed up with a burst of 3-15 to restrict Sodbury to a reply of 110-9.
These results meant the final match of the day was a straight play-off for honours with Hatherley taking control after winning the toss, piling up 171-7 with Price contributing a second unbeaten half century.
In reply, Corse were already on the back foot when Mike Cupper was introduced to the attack and produced a terrific spell of 4-2 from 1.4 overs – including a hat-trick.
That burst saw Corse fold to 93 all out and handed the silverware to Hatherley, bringing an end to a hugely successful first Blast.
