Knowle into last four of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Cup

CAPTAIN Ollie Haynes led from the front with 85 for Knowle who eased past Bristol West Indian Phoenix by seven wickets to reach the semi-finals of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Cup.

The opener dominated his side’s chase, striking eight fours and four sixes, as the target of 135 was reached in the 28th over.

Earlier, opener Dylan Young top scored on 37 for BWIP as Sam Britton (3-25), Fred Barton (3-34) and Habib Naqvi (2-25) made in roads.

Golden Hill received a walkover when Stapleton pulled out of their last eight clash.

Westbury-on-Severn, meanwhile, made light work of chasing a target of 230 at home to Pak Bristolians in the quarter-finals of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Trophy.

Openers Shazil Mustafa (80) and Suleman Sikandar Butt (86) gave the visitors a flying start before Jacob Brown (4-27) put the brakes on to restrict the score to 229-5.

Skipper Greg Artus then set the tone for Westbury with 68 at the top of the order while there was also 60 from Francis Stirrup as the win was clinched with 11 balls to spare.

It was a good day too for Langford who saw off Cam by four wickets.

Opener Ryan Malpass top scored on 68 in Cam’s all out total of 148, Jack Brown bagging 3-23, ahead of Langford chipping away at their target through Jack Romanek (35) and captain Jeremy Kirby (34 not).

Two Trophy quarter-finals are scheduled for Sunday with Frenchay hosting holders Charlton Kings and Tewkesbury welcoming Golden Hill.

Rockhampton, meanwhile, are out of the Village Cup after suffering a 38-run quarter-final reverse away to Calmore Sports of Southampton.

The home side reached 205-4 before the Rams slipped from 91-1 to 124-6 ahead of being dismissed for 167, opener Will Tyler (37) top scoring.
