Gloucester and the Forest of Dean U13 158-7 (35 overs)
Bristol U13 160-7 (30 overs)
Bristol won by 3 wickets
Bristol U13s opening batsman Dheeran Canagarajah (Stoke Bishop) (pictured) produced a disciplined batting 65 from 77 balls to help the hosts to a three wickets over Gloucester and the Forest of Dean (GFOD).
His innings helped the hosts chase down their target of 159 with five overs remaining at Long Ashton CC.
Earlier GFOD won the toss but found it hard going, scoring only eight runs from the first seven overs.
But opening pair Josh Middlecote (23) (Parkend) and Josh Barnes (17) (Woodpeckers) were rewarded for their patience as they began to push on, reaching 37 in the 13th over.
The introduction of slow bowler Philip van de Walt (2-27) (Stoke Bishop) made the breakthrough as he dismissed Barnes and his replacement Luke Bond (2) (Kingsholm).
GFOD increased the run rate largely due to Ellis Robson (Glos City Winget) who top scored with a fluent 58 from 57 balls as the visitors finished on 158-7.
Twyford House’s Alex Wilson was the stand out bowler for Bristol 2 for 22.
In reply Bristol lost Sam Rowland (Stoke Bishop) for 8 with the score on
13 but Renel Stewart (Bristol West Indies and Phoenix) (29) joined Canagarajah to make a significant partnership of 72 in 16 overs.
GFOD fought back with a wicket each for Joe Tombs (Tewkesbury), Ollie Ward (Kingsholm), James Gryko (Corse & Staunton), Middlecote and Matt Walker
