District cricket in Gloucestershire is designed as a stepping stone between boys club and county cricket.

It is split into four geographical areas; Bristol, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds, Gloucester and the Forest of Dean and Stroud and South Gloucestershire, with district squads at every age group from under 11s to 13s and development teams made from the best players outside the county set up at under 14 and 15 level.

Each district squad is selected following trials at the end of each summer. They receive 12 weeks coaching during the winter before playing each other home and away during the season.

2016 was the first season this was run as a competition.

As well as the programme for under 11s to 15s there is also a week-long district under 10 festival every year and a growing number of districts are running their own under 10 teams independent of the GCB.
