Week 4 Bristol & District review

RUEBEN Shehan plundered an unbeaten century as Hanham romped to a memorable nine-wicket win away to Downend 2nds in one of the few Martin Berrill Bristol & District matches to defeat the weather.

Downend were restricted to a total of 163-7 in this 24-over Division One contest, Ross Robbins finishing with 3-20.

And Shehan, along with former skipper Duncan Boffin (45 not) then saw Hanham to the points with more than four overs to spare, moving their side up to second place.

In Division Three, Frampton Cotterell clinched their first win of the summer with a five-wicket triumph away to Bedminster 3rds.

Brendon Foreman finished with 5-19 from 5.4 as Bedminster were dismissed for 135, and followed up with an unbeaten 19 to help seal the points.

It was closer at Bristol Lions where Abbots Leigh held their nerve for a one-wicket Division Five victory.

Dyrham & Hinton and Bitton 2nds both made it three in a row in Division Eight.

Ben Short (63 not) along with openers Rob Cullingford (45) and James Toghill (44) paved the way for Dyrham’s 10-run home defeat of Alveston.

And Josh Wilshire’s unbeaten 63 helped Bitton to a 60-run home defeat of Bristol Asians, Dennis Mullings and Sam Smith bagging three wickets apiece.

LODWAY will take on a Bristol & District League XI on Sunday (1.30pm) in memory of Chris Strong.
