REECE Bevan (79) and Mike Donaldson (65 retired) shared an opening stand of 115 for Frenchay who trumped Shirehampton by 61 runs to go top of Pod A in the Martin Berrill Bristol & District League.

Frenchay, who lost the toss, reached 211-6 off their 40 before Shire were pegged back by Alex Stell (4-26 from eight) despite Brad Alexander’s 85.

Nick Crane (5-11) and James Labuschagne (3-24) combined to dismiss Bristol Pakistanis for just 37 and set up a ten-wicket home win for Winterbourne 2nds.

In Pod F, Harpreet Singh (68) and opener Raj Chudasama (45) shone for Bristol West Indian Phoenix 2nds who were 56-run victors away to their Twyford House counterparts while it was much tighter at Old Down where University Staff completed a nerve-tingling one-wicket victory while Golden Hill 2nds won by five runs at Bohemians.

Two wickets apiece for Charlie Wenham, Imran Ali and Archie Walker put Bishopston 3rds on course for a five-wicket home defeat of Patchway in Pod K.

And in Pod L, Mithun Murali-Girija’s 86 was the highlight of Bristol Aces’ 123-run home defeat of St George Valley.

Vinoth Krishnasamy claimed 4-15 to pave the way for Bristol Eagles to triumph by eight wickets away to Coalpit Heath 2nds in Pod P where Alex White’s unbeaten 66 helped complete a five-wicket victory for Bohemians away to their Shirehampton counterparts.

Opener Mark Lucas retired after reaching 100 for Bitton 2nds who pounded Churchways by 88 runs in Pod Q where Ben Short and Chris Porter were both unbeaten on 57 for Dyrham & Hinton, coincidentally 57-run winners away to Carsons Mangotsfield.
