CHLOE Skelton (Photo by Mark Elson, courtesy of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Review) finished with fabulous figures of 6-40 from seven overs of off spin as Cinderford St John completed a 25-run home victory over Hatherley & Reddings 2nds in Division Two of the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League.
The Gloucestershire Women’s squad all-rounder hit the stumps three times as Hatherley folded to defeat after Jake Nickell (62) had earlier established a strong platform for the visitors.
Chloe, incidentally, is enjoying a season to remember after compiling the first century of her career – an unbeaten 109 – for Cinderford St Johns’ 2nds back in May, away to Huntley. She is also a member of the Western Storm Academy.
Tewkesbury edged Charlton Kings by 15 runs to leapfrog their rivals and claim the top spot in Division One.
Harry Low’s unbeaten 68 lifted Tewkesbury to 184-4 after winning the toss before Wade Ridsdale (3-22), Brandon Coates (2-22) and Adam Brookes (2-29) combined to make it five in a row for the new leaders.
Cheltenham 2nds, third at the start of play, lost ground with a five-wicket home reverse against Kingsholm for whom James Boon (60) and Matt Cayless (50 not) played key innings.
Jake Reed’s 85 helped pave the way for Chipping Sodbury to overcome Westbury-on-Severn by 35 runs, while Jack Carpenter’s burst of 4-23 saw Lydney bowled out for 132 and a 94-run home reverse against Aston Ingham.
Cam are still looking for a first win following a five-wicket reverse at Poulton for whom opener Mark Burton was unbeaten on 85.
In Division Three, Mark Beale was in tremendous form, hammering an unbeaten 95 and then claiming 5-22 for Rockhampton 3rds who trumped Ullenwood Bharat by 64 runs, and Seb Dix returned 5-17 from eight for Frocester 3rds who tied at home to Bourton Vale 2nds.
Captain Ivor Griffiths’ 121 pointed Churchdown to a 236-run home success over Stone in Division Five, and in Division Four two players just missed out on tons.
Skipper Mark Hutchinson was caught for 99 for Dumbleton 2nds who were eight-wicket victors at home to Cheltenham Civil Service for whom Ben Gaskin was dismissed for 95.
Sam Denning, though, did make it into three figures, eventually being bowled for 120 for Poulton 2nds who slipped up by seven wickets in Division Seven at Oaksey.
And opener Josh Middlecote’s run-a-ball 108 (ten fours, six sixes) paved the way for Parkend to defeat Down Hatherley by 112 runs.
One bowler to shine was Jim Fannon whose 5-28 proved to be in vain for Tormarton who went down by 34 runs away to Upton St Leonards in Division Six.
