Week 9 WEPL round-up

FIN Trenouth hit 142 off 112 deliveries for leaders Bristol who continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 188-run home victory against North Perrott in WEPL Premier Two Bristol/Somerset.

The opener stroked 15 fours and three sixes to dominate Bristol’s challenge of 288-7 after winning the toss.

In reply, North Perrott folded to 100 all out against spinner Dan Jones (4-21) and Louie Shaw (3-22).

Bishopston are up to fourth thanks to a last-over two-wicket home win against Winterbourne.

The visitors posted a challenge of 257-6, Chris Kislingbury not out on 105 off 109 (six fours, five sixes) while there was also a half century from Sam Bracey as Ishwar Chaudhary claimed 5-51.

The Bish reply was stuttering at 182-6 before Gary Booth (46 off 34) got his side back on track, Simon George also weighing in with an important quick fire 18.

Thornbury made it four in a row in Premier Two Glos/Wilts, trumping Hatherley & Reddings by three wickets, Josh Slade compiling an unbeaten 66.

Masoor Khan (3-32) put the skids under Dumbleton who were bowled out for 133 ahead of Frocester coasting in by nine wickets, Gloucestershire prospect Will Naish (pictured, image courtesy Brian Rossiter) unbeaten on 69 from 47, and Stroud lost by two wickets at Biddestone.

In Premier One, Bedminster were rumbled for just 99 at home to champions Potterne and eventually succumbed by seven wickets.

Downend overcame Chippenham by three wickets, skipper Brandon Gilmour contributing 54 before an unbroken stand between Andy McEwan (51) and Bobby Naeem (39) completed an important basement victory while Lansdown were 190-run victors at home to Cheltenham.

Tayyab Riaz’s third league century of the season helped Golden Hill march on at the top of Bristol & North Somerset with a 106-run home success over Bristol West Indian Phoenix.

Bristol 2nds, second at the start of the day, slipped to a three-wicket setback at Brislington.

James Riley (3-18 from eight) and Adeel Khan (3-39) were the pick of the attack as Bristol faded to 169 all out before skipper Rhys Grove (33 not) saw Bris over the line.

Twyford House are back up to second following a comfortable seven-wicket home victory against Old Bristolians Westbury while Knowle coasted in by seven wickets at Stapleton.

Corse & Staunton were one-run victors at Bourton Vale in the Gloucestershire division, captain Matt Cox compiling 117 off 123 (13 fours, two sixes).

Tom Arkell responded with 111 from 113 (12 fours, two sixes) for Vale as Callum King claimed 3-55.

Cheltenham Civil Service were seven-wicket home victors against Cirencester while George MacDuff’s 62 after Sam Hewitt’s burst of 4-36 helped Painswick to a three-wicket home triumph against Frocester 2nds.

Leaders Gloucester were six-wicket victors at Thornbury 2nds, Scott Montgomery unbeaten on 77, and second-placed Rockhampton completed a 35-run home success against Apperley, George Driver-Dickerson top scoring on 53.
