The county has an appointed welfare officer – Tom Boore – whose job is to liaise with the GCB on all welfare issues and to offer advice to anyone within cricket who needs it. Should you have an issue that you would like advice on please contact Tom using the details below.
If you have any further queries that you believe cannot be dealt with locally, please make contact with the ECB’s Safeguarding Team.

To support Tom with his work each club across the county should have its own club welfare officer who is nominated by the club and has attended the necessary courses provided by the GCB eg Safeguarding and Protecting Children (SPC) and ECB Club Welfare Officer. Best practice highlights how each club should also have a deputy to take the place of the welfare officer should they be a way. These officers’ details should be provided to the league in which the club plays and also the GCB.
Safe Hands/Safeguarding & Protecting Children Courses and ECB DBS
Club Welfare Officers, must have the Safe Hands and Safeguarding & Protecting Children Qualification and have a valid ECB DBS to be safeguarding compliant. All qualifications must be renewed every three years.
If you have any questions or are having problems with booking on Safeguarding Courses, please email Theresa Ellison. In addition, to initiate DBS Checks, volunteers should contact John Peplow (Bristol & South Glos Clubs) or Eric Woodmason (Gloucestershire Clubs).
